Aruba!! Finally!!

Before we leave Curacao we have to have our "last meal". Nothing religious in this ritual just suckers for good food. We head up the road with friends to a Portuguese restaurant. From the outside it is a place you might easily pass by without a second glance but inside it is very quaint. And then the food arrives. Large skewers with your choice of beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, chicken, shrimp and more. Seasoned and grilled to perfection. I know....you want some, right? Do we look happy or what!

Soon it is Thursday. We bid farewell to our friends and we head west along the coast of Curacao. The boat is sailing nicely. We have a nice breeze just aft of the beam. Sweet!

Enjoying the sail

We spend the night at a little bay in Curacao. It is rolly and it is raining. It is not nice. We go to bed early but the rain is so loud and noisy we don't get alot of sleep. The next morning we rise early and watch the rain....rain, rain, rain please stop. One of us goes up to pull the anchor, that would be a crew job, thanks Anne. We head for Aruba. It is a fast sail with a nice current pushing us.
We arrive at 2pm, check in with the officials and then we anchor our boat. We are here! Right next to the airport. It is entertaining watching the planes line up to take off.

Watching the planes come in to land. Sure it is noisy but it is not Los Angeles International Airport. Later that night we realize the small restaurant on the beach can make more noise than any of the 737s on the runway.

Aurba is a vacation getaway. By plane, small boat or cruiseship. Thousands of people arrive. It is high season.

We can see why. The island has beautiful beaches, fabulous restaurants, clear water and lots of shopping.

Stay tuned for lots of photos from Aruba.
